About Us
We are proud to have been a working dairy farm in Goochland since 1965, and have been farming the land for even longer. Community outreach, and education, is something we strive to do as often as possible. We’re excited to open our farm up for tours and agritourism events, which will help us continue to farm and be an active part of keeping Goochland rural.
The Reva Alvis Memorial Scholarship
Purpose
To recognize a high school senior or previous applicant who is planning to continue his/her education in an agricultural-related or vocational field of study. Previous applicants who are enrolled in agricultural or vocational studies may also apply.
Details
Reva Alvis was a beloved dairy farmer’s wife/mother/grandmother, active community member, and lifelong resident of Goochland County. She dedicated her life to educating others about agriculture. She tended to her own vegetable and flower gardens, loved cooking, and delivered food to the farmers in the field every harvest. She was also a charter member of Co. 3 Fire and Rescue in Manakin-Sabot. In 2021, her family established a scholarship in her honor to be awarded to an individual who best exemplifies Reva’s outstanding character, service to the community and love of all things agriculture. This scholarship will be a one-time payment of up to $1000. The scholarship is applicable to a four-year college, community college, or an accredited trade school. A check will be made payable to the institution that the chosen student will attend. Alvis Farms Events, LLC reserves the right to use your name in the promotion of this scholarship program and the promotion of Alvis Farms Events.

Eligibility
An eligible student must be a high school age senior or current college student that meets at least one of the following qualifications:

Goochland County resident
-
Goochland 4-H member (for a minimum of 3 years)

Goochland County Fire & Rescue Volunteer
*Descendents of Reva Alvis are not eligible.

Submit two letters of recommendation (one from a faculty member and one from a non-family member) and include a copy of their high school transcript.
Deadline
Applications must be received by April 1, 2023. The selection of the recipient will be determined by Alvis Farms Events, LLC Scholarship Committee.
